Conditions of Entry & Ticket Purchase
By purchasing a ticket, reserving space, or entering the History in Action Showground, all visitors, traders, exhibitors, and living history groups agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Ticketing & Refunds
All tickets and reserved spaces are non-refundable and non-transferable under normal circumstances.
Exceptions may be considered only in cases of force majeure, serious illness, or organiser error, at the sole discretion of the event management team.
Lost, stolen, or damaged tickets will not be reissued.
2. Admission Rights
Entry is granted only with a valid ticket, pass, or wristband.
Passes must be worn/displayed at all times where required.
The organisers reserve the absolute right to refuse admission or re-admission without explanation.
3. Removal from Site
All participants must comply with site rules, steward instructions, and health and safety requirements.
The organisers may remove any individual, group, or organisation without refund if, in their opinion, behaviour or activities are:
unsafe, antisocial, or disruptive;
offensive or disrespectful (including the display of prohibited symbols, propaganda, or material);
in breach of these Conditions or the Showground Regulations.
4. Personal Responsibility
All attendees, traders, exhibitors, and groups enter the site at their own risk. The organisers accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage except where caused by proven negligence.
All are responsible for their own property, goods, and equipment at all times.
5. Prohibited Items & Conduct
Weapons, illegal substances, and dangerous or inappropriate items are not permitted, except for authorised living history displays.
Alcohol may only be consumed in designated areas.
Dogs must be kept on leads and cleaned up after.
The use of drones, radios, sound equipment, or other restricted devices is prohibited unless expressly authorised.
6. Traders
In addition to general conditions, all traders agree to the following:
Insurance: Must hold valid public liability insurance, with minimum cover as specified by organisers.
Compliance: Must follow all relevant trading, food hygiene, health and safety, and local authority regulations.
Space Allocation: Sites are allocated at the organisers’ discretion. Occupying more than the allocated space or sub-letting is prohibited.
Goods Sold: Age-restricted items (e.g. knives, BB/air guns) may only be sold in line with UK law, with proof of age verified. Prohibited items include illegal goods, unsafe products, and material deemed offensive.
Refunds: Space fees are non-refundable, except in cases of event cancellation or organiser error.
Operations: Stands must remain open during show hours and be vacated by published deadlines. Early closure or abandonment without approval may result in exclusion from future events.
Conduct: Traders must act professionally. Misconduct, misrepresentation of goods, or harassment of visitors may result in removal without refund.
7. Exhibitors
Exhibitors agree to the following additional conditions:
Insurance: Exhibitors must insure against fire, theft, and third-party claims.
Responsibility: Exhibitors are responsible for their exhibits, machinery, and equipment at all times.
Health & Safety: All exhibits, including machinery, must comply with current safety standards. Dangerous parts must be guarded.
Boundaries: Exhibitors must remain within allocated areas and not obstruct neighbouring stands.
Compliance: Exhibitors must be open during show hours (09:30–18:30 daily) and may not dismantle before closing on the final day.
Ground Care: Exhibitors who break soil must reinstate their site by the deadline or cover reinstatement costs.
8. Living History Groups
Living history participants agree to the following:
Weapons: All weapons (firing or non-firing) must remain within display areas unless escorted by Commanding Officers to/from arenas or battlefields. Weapons are prohibited in all other areas.
Conduct & Respect: Neo-Nazi regalia, propaganda, or political material are strictly forbidden. Offenders will be removed from site. All groups must act with respect, particularly in the presence of veterans.
Command Responsibility: Commanding Officers are responsible for ensuring their members comply with regulations.
Insurance: Groups must carry adequate public liability insurance, with minimum cover of £1M for static/non-battling groups and £5M for battling groups.
Safety: All displays, battles, and encampments must be conducted safely, with consideration for the public and other participants.
9. Photography & Media
By entering, all attendees, traders, exhibitors, and groups consent to being photographed, filmed, or recorded for promotional and archival purposes by the organisers.
10. Cancellation or Alteration of Event
The organisers reserve the right to alter or cancel all or part of the event due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. weather, safety, legal requirements).
Refunds will only be considered at the sole discretion of the organisers.
