General Information

History in Action

A brand-new weekend of living history comes to life this July.

Join us at History in Action, a dynamic two-day event where the past marches into the present. Set against the spacious backdrop of Newbury Showground, this all-action show brings together hundreds of reenactors, living history displays, and military vehicles from across the ages.

From ancient warriors to Cold War troops, the battlefield comes alive with powerful, full-scale combat re-enactments. Expect the roar of engines, the clash of steel, and the boom of artillery — all played out in safe, designated spectator areas.

Wander through immersive camps and scenes that recreate life in different eras: walk WWI trenches, catch a glimpse of the WWII Home Front, or see Vietnam-era GIs in action. Each area is packed with detail, authenticity, and the chance to talk with the people who live and breathe history.

Highlights include:

Realistic battle re-enactments across multiple time periods
Huge display of military vehicles, from tanks to troop transports
Living history camps and interactive displays
Expansive trade stalls with militaria, collectibles, and rare finds
Model exhibitions and expert demonstrations
Vintage entertainment, jive dancing, and retro tunes
Onsite camping with evening entertainment for weekend visitors

Whether you’re a reenactor, a collector, a family looking for something different, or just a fan of history done right — History in Action is the event you won’t want to miss.

Come for the day, or camp for the weekend. History starts here.
